About SFJ
Youth Ministry of BYM
The Campus Ministry of Blessing Youth Mission is known as "Students For Jesus". And the fundamental unit is a cell-group that functions in Schools and Colleges. It consists of a student leader and the cell group members. Every student leader reports to the shepherd about their concerned cell and all the weekly ministerial activities and make use of their counsel and guidance. The district overseers give the spritual nourishment to the shepherds by weekly Bible study and fasting prayers. Each district overseer is to report to a regional overseer, who supervises the ministry for a region, which consists of fourto five districts. Likewise Tamilnadu is divided into five regions. These district and regional overseers are the pillars of the students' ministry.
In 1981, BYM organized a revival team consisting of Bros. V.Ezekia Francis, Kingsley VE Chellian and R. Elisha. Their main ministry was to to work among the stusents and share revival messages in Blessing campaigns. They visited Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Another team was sent to visit the Campus Cell and do Village Outreach. It consisted of Bros. Antonyraj, D. Dharmaraj, S. Mohan, S. Regunathan, Dr. M. Arthur John and A. Jebaveeran. They were able to bring out long lasting fruits.
Students For Jesus(SFJ) had been conducting only one camp each year and that too was on the State level, from 1978 to 1981. For a wider coverage and greater penetration leaders then thought of conducting several regional rallies and the number of such rallies reached 18 in 1984!
The SFJ girls' wing was started in 1982. Mrs. Lilian Kingsley was the leader. Programmes were organized for girls separately. She coordinated the ministry among the girls from the BYM Head Quarters office, Vellore. Some young girls were sent to visit all the girls' cells throughout Tamilnadu systematically. Lilian Kingsley took care of the major correspondence and arrangements of different programmes for girls. She fulfilled her responsibility sincerely till she and her husband moved to Maharashtra state on missionary assignment. Such 'Overseer' responsibility was carefully passed on to next liners. at present Mrs. Baby Raja of Thanjavur is in-charge of Tamilnadu SFJ girls wing.
